Lodge Update

Update – It’s Been A While

In this Lodge Update, I wanted to go over the news of our potential relocation and what’s happened since my last Lodge Update in May;

Sit Perpetuum Temple, NRA Site, Bisley, Surrey

Unfortunately, we were unable to come to an arrangement with the NRA about the future leasing of the temple building that is home to around 10 Masonic Units. As a result, the NRA served notice for us all to vacate by the end of September.

Moving On

For many, this is a sad occasion as the Sit Perpetuum temple has been our home for many years. But we are also looking at this as an opportunity, a fresh start, and a chance to reinvigorate the lodge membership. I talked about this in my very first blog post, which you can read here.

At the beginning of the year, we agreed on a contingency plan to move to the Masonic Centre in Farnham and it is now all systems go for that to happen.

We have provisionally reserved dates for our meetings and most of the members are on board with this plan.

UPDATE:  Meeting dates are now up on the Diary Dates page.

One Final Meeting

We will need to hold a Lodge meeting to formally vote on the move to Farnham. Ideally, this should be at the Bisley temple. However, it is possible to get a dispensation from Province if we wish to hold it at another location.

We will need to remove our belongings from Bisley too. So it would be logical to hold our final meeting there and then clear out our lockers. Bro Secretary will be finalising the details shortly.

With Covid-19 still a great concern for people – especially as many of our Freemasons are older gentlemen – we need to be careful and mindful of their needs too.

But at least we have a clear path for our future and we can look forward with some degree of certainty.

Stay Safe.

Stay Safe Covid-19
